Cupping

Cupping is a big part of Chinese medicine, and is also practiced in households across many cultures. Fire cupping uses a flame to pull oxygen out of the cup, while the practitioner skillfully places the cups on the body, creating a suction. Cupping brings blood flow to the area, improves circulation, relaxes the muscles and removes toxins. We use cupping for most musculoskeletal issues and as well as for relieving colds and coughs.

Gua Sha

Gua sha is a gentle but firm scraping technique that is used for musculoskeletal issues, and to release adhesions in the fascia. It is a perfect modality to “work out those knots” by scraping just until petechiae appear on the skin. Gua sha tools can be anything from a porcelain soup spoon to a crafted jade tool. Similar to cupping, gua sha brings blood flow to an area and breaks up stagnation to relieve pain.
